Grant Funding Guidelines
2006 Cycle

The lllini Community Health Care Foundation (ICHCF) was incorporated to help fund and assist in the development of health care services and programming by awarding grant funding to qualified organizations and entities serving Pike County, Illinois. ICHCF strives to support and improve the health and wellness of individuals seeking health care in Pike County, IL and as such will only fund organization and agencies that directly benefit the residents of and those seeking health services within Pike County.

Areas of Interest
ICHCF will accept Grant Proposals for new as well as existing projects that fit the Foundation's standard funding objectives and may be awarded to any not-for-profit organization for health and human service programs benefiting under-served populations in Pike County.  While a greater risk exists in supporting start-up organizations, the Foundation is willing to consider such proposals.  ICHCF prefers not to be the sole funder of any single organization or program however, they will consider supporting new activities that show promise for broader support.  Grants are typically awarded for one year, but the Foundation may consider a multi-year commitment within a single funding cycle to a specific program if worthy.  Applicants may apply for continued support of a previously funded project.

Eligibility
ICHCF supports only organizations that are consistent with and complementary to the mission, and charitable, tax-exempt purposes of ICHCF. Grants are not made to individuals or private providers.  Grants will be restricted to organization and agencies that directly benefit the residents of and those seeking health services within Pike County. The Foundation will help fund, but not create health care programming or services. Under its tax-exempt status, ICHCF will not fund organizations that directly or indirectly participate in political campaigns on behalf of candidates for political office.

Evaluation Criteria
All proposals submitted to ICHCF will be taken into consideration.  Proposals will be judged on their ability to meet the Foundation's funding objectives.  ICHCF favors projects that:

  • Demonstrate broad or strong community impact
  • Exhibit a high level of collaboration between service providers
  • Reduce long-term cost or duplication of services
  • Reach underserved populations
  • Create lasting value
  • Demonstrate new and sustainable ways to solve health problems
  • Leverage additional financial or volunteer resources
  • Incorporate sound programmatic methods and evaluations as building blocks
    for long-term program success

In the event that a proposed project does not qualify for Foundation funding, our staff may be able to help you explore other funding options either with us, through other grant funding or with another organization.
